We’ve turned the corner!

Well, its been a long, frustrating and emotional past few days. Kylie’s side effects from chemo did a number on her. But the meds have kicked in and her appetite is coming back. I cannot be more happy! Blood work gets done Thursday (1 week after first chemo treatment) and hopefully her levels are good and she can continue onto the second treatment Oct 6.

The Oncologist says he will not make the next treatment as strong next time, given her side effects to it, and also we will start the anti nausea & antidiarrhea meds earlier, to hopefully avoid the same reaction in her. She is tripawd hopping around here like she was born on 3 legs and her personality is back, she wants to play, she barks at the people going by outside, etc,.

Hoping this is a bump in the road that we have now passed and it will only go up from here!! Thanks to you all for the support through this tough time! All your suggestions were a big help. The food of choice that finally got her going on the right track was a RITZ CRACKER! lol  I feel like writing the company a thank you haha!

We were blessed to love Kylie for an extra 10 bonus months after her amputation and chemo for osteosarcoma, until another tumour grew in her abdomen that was not operable and we had to say to our beautiful girl July 17/17 after 10yrs of unconditional love. <3 She lives on in our hearts always

    1. I know! I can’t believe how a little bit of food here and there has made a difference! She is more energetic (obviously) bring us toys to play, barking at people outside like usual, walking around room to room instead of just laying there looking so sad.
I am Currently baking her some dog cookies lol

    1. She loves those damn crackers!! haha I made some dog cookies as well that were a big hit! They contain pure pumpkin, natural peanut butter and I mushed in some banana too! Her favourites!

  3. Glad to hear beautiful Kylie’s over that hurdle and a good plan in place for her to stay in her good place through the rest of her chemos. You are a mighty advocate for beautiful Kylie! Fingers and paws crossed here for this to all be behind her now!

    1. Thank you! yes we are feeling optimistic now that we’ve been through the first one, we are better prepared on what to expect moving forward! Thanks for the support! xo

  4. I’m new here just hit 8 days after amputation. Have an appointment with oncologist in one week. I have a question about the chemo. I was told that there were no side effects obviously this is not true? Has everyone’s baby gotten sick I’m very nervous about this

    1. Ask alot of questions! Make sure you get some meds for nausea and vomiting the day of chemo when you go home. Side effects can start as early as 3 days after the treatment. Kylie was great up until then. Then the next 3 were horrible! But she’s bounced back like nobody’s business! So even if your furbaby is unfortunate enough to get side effects, remember its only temporary! They just needs lots of love, patience & various foods to try 😉
