Kylie’s 7 month Ampuversary!!

Well not sure how time has flew by so fast but I guess as the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun! 🙂 That’s what Kylie is doing, living each happy bonus day she gets, to the fullest. Just as we all should be doing. If nothing else this experience has taught us that.

To catch you all up, one month after chemo she had her bloodwork done to see if her liver, kidneys etc. we’re affected by it. The bloodwork was “excellent” according to our Vet. So the oncologist said she was good to start the metacam daily now. She gets it every morning on her food and seems to be feeling great. Her spirits are high, her energy is positive, she just looks happy! She is her spunky funny playful kissing self!

We are getting out for longer walks now that the weather is nice (some days) Well it’s canada afterall. We can have 14C spring like weather one day and 2 days later get 5cm of snow lol She loves the snow but hates the rain, like her Mom 😉

Our walks are getting longer now. We’ve been taking it easy with her so far, not wanting to make her too sore later but then my husband reminded me, she is having the time of her life! So why not try to go a little further & walk a little longer here and there and see how she tolerates it. Well we used to limit her to 1km and now she’s up to almost 1.5km and doesn’t seem to be sore the next day. She’s also met some new neighbourhood dogs now that weather is nicer. Specifically a 16 month old boy named Oliver 😉 We go off leash on a trail near our house & she runs and plays like she used to.  She really likes him & he’s really good with her, like he knows she’s a little special. Just about brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw her running like she used to in her younger 4 legged days. She runs at top speeds and literally runs circles as they chase each other. She sometimes goes too fast and forgets she’s not as agile now & will fall over on her amp side but gets right back up! She is just awesome.

We have to get her chest x Ray done next week & we are scared to death to learn if the cancer has metastasized or not and how badly.  Hoping for the best news possible but with osteosarcoma we realize it’s never really great.

She truly seems to be her old awesome self we’ve known & loved for the last 9yrs, only now she has 3 legs. That’s honestly how it feels. I pray this nasty disease gives us as many more months as possible with her, especially in this amazing state.

P.s the pic is from today during the impromptu puppy party in the field where we met up with some neighbours. Her new boyfriend Oliver is the handsome black & white dude ❤️
